Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly targeting eight players in the upcoming January transfer window, with Nico Williams and Leroy Sane leading his wishlist.

Following Bukayo Saka’s hamstring injury, Arteta is prioritizing the addition of a wide attacker. According to the Daily Mail, Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, 22, tops the list.
His £48m release clause makes the deal feasible for Arsenal, but securing Williams may be challenging. The Spanish winger is likely to attract interest from rival clubs, and there is uncertainty about whether he would consider leaving Bilbao mid-season.
Leroy Sane of Bayern Munich is another option for Arsenal, but concerns over the 28-year-old’s age make him a less attractive long-term investment.
Real Madrid’s 19-year-old prodigy Arda Guler is also on Arteta’s radar, though a move appears unlikely as the Spanish giants see Guler as integral to their future.
Meanwhile, Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, 21, has caught Arsenal’s eye with his stellar Bundesliga performances.
Beyond a wide forward to cover for Saka, Arsenal is also considering a new striker. Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak is Arteta’s top choice, but a January transfer would be highly complicated.
Other strikers on Arsenal’s list include RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, and Wolves’ Matheus Cunha.
The Gunners are particularly impressed with Cunha, who has tallied 10 goals and four assists in 19 Premier League appearances this season, according to The Athletic.
