Super Eagles interim head coach, Augustine ‘Cerezo’ Eguavoen, is set to arrive in Uyo ahead of the Super Eagles B team’s decisive 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier against Ghana’s Black Galaxies. The match is scheduled for Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, according to softfootball.com.

Eguavoen, 59, missed the first leg of the final qualification series, which ended in a goalless draw between Nigeria’s home-based Eagles and Ghana’s Black Galaxies.
The team, comprised of players from the domestic league, showed resilience in Accra but will need to step up to secure qualification on home soil.
The coach had been abroad undergoing treatment for an undisclosed health condition but has now returned to Nigeria. “Eguavoen is back in the country.

While Eguavoen was away, coaching responsibilities were handled by assistants Daniel Ogunmodede and Fidelis Ilechukwu, nicknamed “The Working One.” Despite the temporary changes in management, the team has remained focused on their preparations.
The Super Eagles B team is currently camped at the Luna Park Hotel, marking a change from their previous accommodation at Four Points by Sheraton in Ikot Ekpene.
On the other hand, the Black Galaxies of Ghana are set to arrive in Uyo today, Friday, December 27, via the Port Harcourt Airport, ahead of the high-stakes clash.
With the tie delicately poised after the first-leg stalemate, the return of Eguavoen is seen as a morale boost for the Nigerian team as they aim to clinch qualification for the 2024 CHAN tournament.
