Enzo Fernandez, Chelsea’s high-profile Argentine midfielder, has caught the attention of Barcelona and Inter Milan amid doubts over his future at Stamford Bridge.

Signed for a massive £106.8 million in January 2023, Fernandez arrived with big expectations and a contract stretching until 2031.

However, his Chelsea career has yet to truly take off, as he’s been relegated to the bench for recent high-profile matches, including a 1-1 draw against Manchester United.

Under Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, Fernandez has seen his starting opportunities diminish, with Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia preferred in central midfield. While the 23-year-old is determined to fight for his spot, he is reportedly open to exploring options elsewhere if he continues to be sidelined.

Chelsea’s investment in Fernandez means any interested clubs, including Barcelona and Inter Milan, would face a steep price to secure his services.

Despite the heavy transfer fee, Maresca remains pragmatic, stating that Fernandez’s current lack of playtime is due to tactical preferences rather than price tag pressures, emphasizing the physicality brought by Caicedo and Lavia.

As Fernandez weighs his future at Chelsea, his value and contract length make any potential departure a significant consideration for both the player and the club.
