Barcelona are reportedly preparing a summer move for Rayo Vallecano right-back Andrei Ratiu as they look to strengthen their defensive lineup. With Jules Kounde as the first-choice right-back, the club wants to add depth and competition in that position ahead of the 2025-26 season.

According to Sport, Barcelona’s sporting director Deco has identified Ratiu as a key target. The Romanian international has impressed for Rayo this season, making 25 appearances across all competitions, scoring twice, and providing two assists. His solid performances have also drawn interest from Real Madrid.

Rayo Vallecano are open to negotiations but are expected to demand at least €25m (£21m) for the 26-year-old defender. Despite Real Madrid’s reported interest, their priority is securing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool on a free transfer.

Barcelona have already begun discussions with Rayo regarding a possible transfer. Given their ongoing financial struggles, the Blaugrana may look to reduce the transfer fee by offering a player in exchange. One potential option is young right-back Hector Fort, who is currently serving as Kounde’s backup. If Rayo secures European qualification, they may be open to such a deal.

Other Barcelona players, including Gerard Martin and Ansu Fati, could also be used as part of an exchange. Fati, who has struggled to secure a place in Hansi Flick’s squad, is expected to leave the club at the end of the season, making him a viable option in the negotiations for Ratiu.

Barcelona’s summer transfer plans extend beyond defensive reinforcements. The club is also actively pursuing attacking options, with Porto’s rising star Samu Aghehowa reportedly high on their wishlist. The Catalan giants are set for a busy transfer window as they aim to rebuild their squad for the upcoming campaign.

With multiple signings expected, Barcelona aims to assemble a squad capable of competing for major trophies next season. Strengthening the right-back position remains a priority, and securing Ratiu’s signature would provide much-needed depth in the defensive lineup. Negotiations with Rayo Vallecano could intensify in the coming months.
