Barcelona Struggles Leave Dani Olmo’s Future Hanging

Dani Olmo’s future at Barcelona is clouded with uncertainty as the club faces ongoing financial challenges. The 26-year-old midfielder, who joined the Catalan giants from RB Leipzig in August for a reported £51 million, finds himself ineligible for registration for the second half of the season due to LaLiga’s wage restrictions.

Barcelona initially managed to register olmo for the first part of the campaign, but recent efforts to secure his spot for the remainder of the season were blocked.

On Saturday, a joint decision by laliga and the Spanish football federation (RFEF) denied Barcelona’s request to register Olmo and forward Pau Victor.

A statement from the RFEF’s Monitoring Committee clarified the rejection. It cited articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations, which prohibit a player whose license is canceled from being re-registered with the same team in the same season.

Although Barcelona recently complied with LaLiga’s economic control requirements, the committee concluded that Olmo and Victor’s registrations did not meet regulatory standards.

Olmo, who began his career at Barcelona’s youth academy before moving to Dinamo Zagreb at 16, has been a standout performer this season.

With six goals in 15 appearances, he has attracted interest from top European clubs. Arsenal and Manchester City are reportedly monitoring his situation closely, considering a potential January transfer.

Arsenal’s manager, Mikel Arteta, expressed caution about winter signings, emphasizing that new additions alone don’t guarantee success. “Signing someone is not enough,” Arteta stated.

“That signing has to deliver consistently. I’m happy with the players we have and the goals we’ve scored, which should be enough to win the league. But if others do more, we have to be better.”

As Barcelona’s financial struggles persist, the uncertainty surrounding Olmo could lead to a transfer battle among Europe’s elite, making him one of the most sought-after players in the January window.

  1. Lieporta🤣🤣🤣 Barca fans are addicted to lies so that’s what their president is delivering to them

  2. What does this tell you about the football operations guys at Camp Nou? £51 Million burnt! A nice dent in their fair play sustainability budget!

  3. Looking at Olmo makes me believe in reincarnation as he looks like he was stretched on a medieval rack with that neck.

  4. How in the world does something like this even happen?! Why didn’t the club take care of this problem months ago?

  5. They wake up tomorrow and blame Madrid for not being able to buy players when they literally still pay Messi now adding Olmo to the wage list among others

  6. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  7. The terms seem incredibly harsh for Barcelona, especially considering their ongoing financial struggles.

  8. Are you ready for that ?
Your club is going if you do not register him cos idk his you’ll come back from that

  9. Signing Olmo must be up there with the dumbest transfers Barca has ever done.

You spent money that you don’t have, signing a player that you don’t need, now selling or realising players that you actually need to register him.

    Make it make sense??

  10. Barcelona have being broke since Lamine yamal came out of nappies but they have continued signing players and started building a literally brand new stadium after demolishing their old stadium. How is that possible?? And when is their referee bribing case going to come to a conclusion or has that being swept under the carpet?

  11. What absolute disgrace!

All this is happening while we are still paying players with huge wages like Lenglet, Fati, Ferran and oh we’re still paying Messi too.

    Unbelievable.

  12. Barcelona should just man up and sell Yamal for 150m to PSG and sort out their debts. They always claim la masia is the best so they can get another star.

They won’t do this because they want to battle Madrid on the shot run 😂
