Bayern Munich has made it clear that they have no intentions of letting go of Leroy Sane during the upcoming January transfer window, despite Manchester United and Arsenal’s keen interest in the German winger.

Now in his fifth season with Bayern after a £45 million transfer from Manchester City in 2020, Sane has shown promising form this season, netting three goals across ten matches.

However, questions surrounding his future with the club remain as his contract is set to expire in 2025, leaving limited time for Bayern to negotiate a new deal.

According to reports from Sky Deutschland, Bayern is eager to extend Sane’s contract, but they are also hoping to reduce his salary by around €2-4 million (£1.7-3.3m) per year.

Sane currently earns up to €20 million per season (£16.5m) with bonuses. Sporting director Max Eberl is pushing to reduce costs across the squad, impacting other players like Joshua Kimmich and Manuel Neuer, who are also expected to enter wage negotiations.

While there is optimism about reaching an agreement, no final deal has been achieved. A January move remains off the table, but with Sane’s contract inching closer to expiration, Manchester United and Arsenal are keeping a close eye on any developments, prepared to act if Bayern’s stance changes.
