Bayern Munich have entered the race to sign Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres, with the striker now the subject of intense transfer speculation ahead of the January window.

Arsenal and Manchester United have already expressed interest, and Bayern’s recent enquiry has added another layer of competition for the Swedish forward.

Gyokeres, 26, has been in sensational form for Sporting, scoring an impressive 66 goals in 67 matches over the past two seasons. His remarkable consistency has drawn the attention of top Premier League clubs, including Manchester United, Arsenal, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Liverpool.

Gyokeres is currently under contract with Sporting until 2028, but reports suggest his £83million release clause could be reduced to £63million next summer, which has only increased interest from potential suitors.

Bayern Munich’s interest has raised eyebrows, as the Bundesliga side reportedly enquired about the player but has yet to take any concrete action. Despite having a world-class striker in Harry Kane, Bayern is keen to monitor Gyokeres’ progress, especially given his performances in both the Champions League and the Primeira Liga.

Rumors have also been fueled by the potential move of Sporting’s manager, Ruben Amorim, to Manchester United. While speculation has linked Gyokeres to United in the wake of Amorim’s departure, the player himself has downplayed the possibility, stating he is fully committed to Sporting and enjoys his time in Lisbon.

“I’m here. As you can see, I enjoy it at Sporting. It’s nothing I really think about,” Gyokeres remarked, distancing himself from the growing speculation.

Gyokeres continues to perform at a high level, most recently scoring a hat-trick against Manchester City, further solidifying his status as one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers. As the January transfer window approaches, it remains to be seen which club will secure his signature.
