Bayern Munich is reportedly interested in Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, as questions surround the 19-year-old’s future at Old Trafford. Despite emerging as a key player for the Red Devils last season, Mainoo’s contract demands have created uncertainty.
Currently earning £20,000 a week, the England international is seeking a substantial pay rise to £200,000 weekly. Manchester United, while open to improving his salary, are reluctant to meet such demands. This hesitation could lead to a potential transfer, as selling Mainoo would provide a significant financial boost under Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Mainoo, who is contracted until 2027, remains central to manager Ruben Amorim’s plans. Amorim values the teenager’s contributions but has emphasized that he is far from a finished product. “Kobbie has improved a lot recently,” said Amorim. “But he’s not the finished product yet. He has immense potential for growth.”
Chelsea has also shown interest in the midfielder, and now Bayern Munich is monitoring the situation closely, according to The Sun. Amorim has reiterated his desire to retain players like Mainoo, especially academy graduates who are vital to the club’s future.
“We aim to keep our best players, particularly those developed in our academy,” Amorim stated before the FA Cup victory over Arsenal. “I’m very pleased with Kobbie’s progress, and players like Garnacho as well.”
As the contract talks continue, it remains uncertain whether Mainoo will stay at Manchester United or seek opportunities elsewhere.
