The 25-year-old midfielder had to be subbed off in the 34th minute of Vasteras’ 1-0 win over Hammarby last weekend, sparking concerns over his availability for his national team.

Ahlinvi has had a strong season with Vasteras, contributing three goals and two assists over 26 league appearances. Despite being a mainstay in Benin’s midfield with 22 caps, he has yet to find the back of the net for his country.

Benin is set to host the Super Eagles of Nigeria this Thursday at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan. Following this crucial clash, they will take on Libya’s Mediterranean Knights next Monday. Gernot Rohr’s side will be hoping to secure key points against both Nigeria and Libya, but they may have to do so without Ahlinvi, whose recovery timeline remains uncertain.
