Former Manchester United forward Dimitar Berbatov expressed frustration over the lackluster goal-scoring form of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, describing their performance as “embarrassing.”

Since returning from injury, Hojlund has managed only two goals in ten games, while Zirkzee has failed to build on his debut goal against Fulham, leaving United with a mere nine goals in ten league matches.

The poor offensive output was one reason United decided to part ways with Erik ten Hag, who was dismissed last week. Incoming coach Ruben Amorim will aim to boost the team’s attack after taking charge during the upcoming international break.

Berbatov hinted that Amorim might bring Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres to Old Trafford, a forward who has already netted 16 goals in ten league games this season.

The Swedish international, however, recently stated his commitment to Sporting, despite acknowledging his strong connection with Amorim.

The United legend suggested that Gyokeres could be the striker United needs to address their offensive struggles, adding that current forwards have not met expectations at a club of United’s stature.
