Brentford manager Thomas Frank has expressed his contentment with his current role at the club but has left the door open for future opportunities, as rumors linking him to the Manchester United job continue to swirl. With Erik ten Hag under mounting pressure at Old Trafford, Frank’s name has emerged as a potential successor, although the Danish coach remains focused on his work with the Bees.

Ten Hag’s position as Manchester United manager has come under intense scrutiny following a difficult start to the season. The Red Devils are currently languishing in 14th place in the Premier League, with just seven points from as many games. Despite surviving the latest international break, Ten Hag is aware that results must improve quickly, starting with Saturday’s clash against Brentford.

Thomas Frank, who has been at Brentford since 2018 and led them to consistent success in the Premier League, was questioned about the Manchester United links during an interview. He reiterated his happiness with Brentford but acknowledged the unpredictability of football.

“I’ve said many times I’m very happy at Brentford,” Frank said. “Who knows what will happen in the future. Maybe I stay here for many years. I’m open, maybe something happens. But first and foremost, I’m very happy, just working very hard every day to make the club better.”

Frank remained tight-lipped on the rumors surrounding Manchester United, adhering to his principle of not commenting on speculation or players from other clubs. “There is a lot of rumors out there,” Frank noted. “I never speak about players that are not in my club, and I don’t speak about speculation either way.”

Despite the speculation, Frank is not currently one of the leading candidates to replace Ten Hag, with names such as Ruud van Nistelrooy, Gareth Southgate, Michael Carrick, and Kieran McKenna reportedly being considered. However, Frank’s odds reportedly improved after Thomas Tuchel accepted the England national team job, removing a major contender from the race.

As Manchester United prepare to face Brentford this weekend, Ten Hag’s future remains uncertain, and Frank’s potential move to Old Trafford could become a more prominent discussion if results continue to go against the Dutchman.
