Alejandro Garnacho’s stunning goal against Leicester City in Manchester United’s 3-0 victory on Sunday sparked an emotional moment, but his muted response to the strike left many fans wondering why he didn’t celebrate.

The explanation was revealed by Bruno Fernandes, who shared that Garnacho had been feeling like some fans had lost faith in him.

According to Fernandes, the 20-year-old winger didn’t celebrate as he should have because he believes he has lost the support of certain supporters.

Despite scoring a brilliant curling effort, Garnacho, who had come off the bench to seal the win for United, initially stopped running and calmly walked back to his teammates. It wasn’t until later, after a heartfelt conversation with Fernandes, that Garnacho finally celebrated his goal, albeit more reservedly.

Fernandes, speaking to BBC Sport, explained: “It was a good day at work. Garnacho scored a banger, but he didn’t celebrate like he should because he thinks he has lost faith from some fans”.

“I told him people will always moan, but lots of people like you and enjoy what you do. I told him to celebrate, it was something special. He is a special player, we have difference makers. They are the ones who win us games.”

Despite his exceptional goal-scoring form this season with seven goals, Garnacho has faced challenges both on and off the pitch.

Recently, he was confronted by a fan outside Old Trafford before United’s Europa League match against PAOK, who criticized his passing and first touch. Garnacho’s sharp response to the fan went viral, further highlighting the pressure he is under.

Garnacho’s quiet demeanor after scoring was more than just a goal; it was a reflection of the difficult season he’s having, amid fluctuating performances and harsh fan reactions.

His raw talent, however, continues to shine, as he remains United’s top contributor with seven goals and four assists.
