Bruno Fernandes has shared insights into manager Ruben Amorim’s push to revitalize Manchester United, stressing the squad’s need to improve goal-scoring efforts.
Amorim’s tenure has been turbulent, but recent performances, such as a hard-fought draw against Liverpool in the Premier League and a penalty shootout victory over Arsenal in the FA Cup, have shown glimpses of promise.
However, challenges persist. Manchester United sits 13th in the league, with just 23 points from 20 games and an identical 23 goals scored, matching 19th-placed Leicester City.
Amorim has made it clear that these statistics are far from acceptable. Fernandes echoed the manager’s sentiments, pointing to the team’s potential.
“The manager keeps reminding us that we need to score more,” Fernandes told Sky Sports. “We have a squad capable of delivering, with players like Rasmus, Josh Zirzkee, Amad, Garnacho, Rashy, Antony, and even midfielders like Kobbie, Manu Ugarte, Casa, or Christian contributing goals. It’s about unlocking that potential.”
While Amorim is working to implement his favored 3-4-3 system, which brought success at Sporting, Fernandes believes passion and effort are just as critical as tactics.
“Training time is crucial,” said Fernandes. “But the manager emphasizes the importance of passion, desire, and the will to win. Everyone is now clearer on his expectations in terms of tactics, positioning, and overall effort.”
He acknowledged that there is still room for improvement, both tactically and in effort. However, Fernandes is optimistic about the team’s direction, believing they are on the right path to rediscover their form.
As Amorim continues to reshape Manchester United, the players are committed to meeting his high standards and reversing their fortunes.
