The Nigerian team, en route to Benghazi, was held at the airport for over 13 hours without transportation provided by the Libyan Football Federation, causing major disruptions and postponing the match.

Speaking about the ordeal, Motsepe emphasized CAF’s dedication to addressing such issues, while refraining from commenting on the ongoing investigation. He highlighted the broader problem of poor sportsmanship, noting that teams across Africa have faced similar situations where they were unnecessarily delayed or denied access due to manipulated regulations.

Motsepe underscored CAF’s commitment to eradicating these unfair practices and confirmed that the matter had been referred to CAF’s Disciplinary Board. He promised that appropriate actions would be taken against those who violated the organization’s regulations.

The incident, which sparked outrage, raised serious concerns about the treatment of visiting teams and CAF’s role in ensuring accountability in future competitions.
