The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has decided to pull the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Nigeria and Libya following the Super Eagles’ distressing experience upon arrival in Libya.

The Nigerian team arrived at Al Abraq International Airport, only to be stranded for over 12 hours without any assistance or transportation to their intended destination, Benghazi. This situation arose after their chartered flight was mistakenly diverted to a smaller airstrip used mainly for pilgrimage flights

In light of these circumstances, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) supported the players’ decision to withdraw from the match, leading to CAF’s investigation into the Libyan Football Federation’s handling of the situation.

The players and officials expressed their frustrations regarding the lack of proper hospitality and assistance from their Libyan counterparts
