Jamie Carragher has praised Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund for his recent performances, highlighting his growing influence after a slow start to the season.

The £72m summer signing from Atalanta netted key goals in United’s 3-3 draw against Porto in the Europa League and their 2-1 Premier League win over Brentford.

Carragher, impressed with Hojlund’s display against Porto, commented, “He’s starting to look like a player. He put in a real shift, and I think he’s getting better.” Hojlund, who has battled a hamstring injury, has scored just twice in six appearances so far, but Carragher feels his form is improving.

In discussing United’s front three, Carragher added that Marcus Rashford, playing on the right, had one of his best games, while Alejandro Garnacho’s goal from the left offers potential for the team’s future attack.

Meanwhile, former United striker Dimitar Berbatov urged Hojlund to be more assertive and vocal on the pitch. Berbatov believes the young forward needs to demand more from his teammates, particularly when his runs go unnoticed, saying, “That should make you angry.”

Hojlund, continuing his recovery, is expected to be a key player in United’s upcoming Europa League clash against Fenerbahce.
