England’s interim manager, Lee Carsley, admitted that his team was second best during their 2-1 defeat to Greece in Thursday’s UEFA Nations League clash. Vangelis Pavlidis scored twice for Greece, while Jude Bellingham netted for England, but the Three Lions fell short at Wembley.

Reflecting on the performance, Carsley told ITV, “We were probably second best for a lot of tonight… it’s disappointing.” He emphasized the need for a strong response in their next game against Finland, adding, “We tried something different, but it didn’t come off.”

Carsley acknowledged mistakes in all the goals and emphasized the importance of learning from setbacks moving forward.
