Casemiro admits that Manchester United’s defeat to Liverpool was his lowest point this season but insists he’s otherwise been in solid form.

The 32-year-old, a mainstay in United’s midfield, faced sharp criticism for his display in the 3-0 loss, which saw him subbed off at halftime after being blamed for two of Liverpool’s goals. However, Casemiro believes this was just one poor performance in an otherwise strong season.

Reflecting on the match, Casemiro remarked, “I only had the Liverpool game, right? The whole team wasn’t good in that game, or this season. But individually, I think it’s been a good season for me.”

Since Erik ten Hag’s departure and Ruud van Nistelrooy’s appointment as interim manager, Casemiro’s form has notably improved. He credits his partnership with new teammate Manuel Ugarte for helping stabilize the midfield.

“I have a good connection with Ugarte,” Casemiro added. “When one goes forward, the other covers, and vice versa. He’s a great person, and he’s earned respect from all the players here.”

Casemiro’s recent goal in United’s 5-2 Carabao Cup victory over Leicester highlights his resurgence under Van Nistelrooy, who praised the Brazilian’s dedication and professionalism. “The way he trains and prepares, he’s an example for us,” said Van Nistelrooy. “After the criticism from the Liverpool game, it’s great to see him back in form, and I couldn’t be happier for him.”

With a promising partnership in midfield and strong support from his manager, Casemiro looks set to make a significant impact for United as the season progresses.
