Casemiro has reaffirmed his commitment to Manchester United, insisting he wants to stay at the club until his contract expires in 2026.
However, with United’s struggles this season and Ruben Amorim’s plans to rebuild, his future remains uncertain.
The Brazilian midfielder, who arrived from Real Madrid in 2022, enjoyed an impressive first season under Erik ten Hag, making 51 appearances and scoring seven goals.

But since then, injuries and declining physicality have left him on the fringes. At 32, he has found it increasingly difficult to cope with the intensity of the Premier League, managing just 11 league starts this season.
Despite his limited role, Casemiro remains determined to fight for his place. “I’d like to play more. No player wants to be on the bench,” he told AS.
“I want to help the club in this difficult moment. I have a year-and-a-half left on my contract, and I’d like to fulfil it here in Manchester. My family is comfortable, we’ve adapted, and I’m grateful to the fans and the club.”
While Casemiro wants to stay, United’s hierarchy may have other plans. With the club keen to cut costs and restructure under Amorim, the veteran’s £350,000-a-week wages are seen as a burden. A loan move to Roma was rumored in January, but it never materialized.
Casemiro was handed a rare start in Sunday’s defeat to Tottenham due to injuries to Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo, Christian Eriksen, and Mason Mount.
However, Amorim’s tactics left him exposed in midfield, with Bruno Fernandes drifting wide and Alejandro Garnacho and Joshua Zirkzee operating behind Rasmus Højlund. The lack of defensive support made it a tough evening for the Brazilian.
The 2-1 defeat to Spurs leaves United 15th in the Premier League with just eight wins from 25 matches, scoring only 28 goals all season.
Amorim himself has admitted he is struggling to get results. “I have a lot of problems,” he told Sky Sports. “My job is hard, but I am here to keep going and try to win again.”
Next up for United is a challenging trip to Goodison Park to face Everton, who have overtaken them in the table. With Amorim desperate for results and Casemiro fighting to prove he still belongs, the pressure is mounting at Old Trafford.
