In the aftermath of Manchester United’s triumphant 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final at Wembley, Casemiro, a midfield maestro with a wealth of silverware to his name, made a heartfelt gesture.

The Brazilian star gave his winners’ medal to teammate Tyrell Malacia, who had been sidelined due to injury throughout the entire season.

Tyrell Malacia, 25, had endured a frustrating 2022-23 season due to persistent injuries, making no appearances but continuing to support his team from the sidelines. Despite his lack of involvement on the pitch, Casemiro ensured Malacia felt valued and included.

Speaking to The Athletic, Malacia shared: “For me, the most difficult part was to be up there with the guys for the trophy presentation because I wasn’t part of the team during the whole process. I wanted to stay down and let them enjoy it.”

However, Casemiro, with his leadership and camaraderie, encouraged Malacia to join in the celebration.

“He said, ‘You have to go up there as well.’ When someone with that kind of experience tells you that, you listen,” Malacia added.

Casemiro later revealed why he gave Malacia his medal: “He hadn’t played a single game that season, and he didn’t want to climb the steps. There was no medal for him, so I gave him mine. He’s part of the team, and we’re counting on him. Even though he hasn’t played, we love him, we need him, and he also needs love.”

This gesture highlights Casemiro’s humility and belief in collective effort, values that have underpinned his illustrious career, which includes five Champions League trophies and three La Liga titles with Real Madrid.

Malacia recently made his return to action during United’s Europa League victory over Bodo/Glimt. The defender’s comeback marks a new chapter in his journey, one strengthened by the unwavering support of his teammates

The victory over Manchester City marked Manchester United’s 13th FA Cup title and offered a momentary reprieve in a season marred by struggles.

While the triumph was a team effort, Casemiro’s act of kindness underscored the importance of unity and camaraderie within the squad.

Casemiro’s selfless act reflects the values that make football more than just a game. For Manchester United fans, it’s a reminder that their team’s strength lies not only in talent but also in the bond shared by its players.
