With his exceptional talent and potential, Souza has become a prime target for Chelsea and Barcelona, two European giants vying for his signature.

Souza’s journey began at just nine years old in Santos’ academy, where he quickly established himself as a standout talent.

This year, he took the leap into senior football, making his debut as a substitute against Mirassol in February. Since then, he has cemented his place in Santos’ starting XI, impressing with his speed, flair, and attacking prowess.

His performances have drawn comparisons to Brazilian legend Marcelo, with many hailing Souza as a potential heir to the left-back position that Brazil has struggled to fill since Marcelo’s retirement in 2018.

According to AS, both Barcelona and Chelsea have been tracking Souza closely. Chelsea, under owner Todd Boehly, has made a concerted effort to target South American talents, recently securing Estevao and Kendry.

They view Souza as a possible long-term replacement for Ben Chilwell, whose future at Stamford Bridge looks uncertain.

Meanwhile, Barcelona, known for developing Brazilian stars like Neymar and Dani Alves, are equally intrigued by Souza’s potential.

The report also mentions an informal approach from a Saudi Pro League club, but Santos remains focused on keeping their prodigy by negotiating a long-term extension to his current deal, which expires next summer.

Souza’s talent has not gone unnoticed by Brazil’s national team. Having been a key player in Brazil’s triumph at the South American Under-17 Championship, calls for his inclusion in the senior squad are growing louder.

With Brazil still searching for a reliable left-back post-Marcelo, Souza could soon find himself in the international spotlight.

Chelsea’s interest in Souza also stems from their shifting dynamics in the left-back position. Marc Cucurella has established himself as the first choice under new head coach Enzo Maresca, leaving Ben Chilwell sidelined.

Chilwell, limited to just one Carabao Cup appearance this season, is reportedly exploring a move away from west London.

With Souza’s stock rising rapidly, the race for his signature is heating up. Whether it’s Chelsea, Barcelona, or Santos managing to secure his future, one thing is clear: Souza is destined for greatness.

The footballing world now waits to see where this “New Marcelo” will make his mark next.
