Chelsea are making a last-minute push in the transfer market, with Las Palmas loanee Dario Essugo and Saint-Etienne’s Mathis Amougou emerging as potential targets. While the Blues have had an unusually quiet window, they are now exploring deals to strengthen their squad with young talent before the 11 PM deadline.
Essugo, currently on loan from Sporting CP, has been making an impression in La Liga, starting 14 matches this season. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder made history as Sporting’s youngest-ever debutant at just 16 but has yet to secure a permanent spot in their first team. Now, with competition from Real Sociedad, Chelsea may need to pay at least €20m (£16.6m) to land him.
Meanwhile, Amougou, another 19-year-old midfielder, has been gaining experience with Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1. Though not yet a regular starter, he has made 17 league appearances and was instrumental in France’s run to the 2023 Under-17 World Cup final, earning the Bronze Ball award.
Both players are viewed as long-term investments rather than immediate first-team reinforcements. With the clock ticking, Chelsea must move quickly to secure their signatures before the window closes.
