Chelsea are reportedly considering re-signing former defender Fikayo Tomori, who is growing frustrated at AC Milan due to limited game time this season.
Tomori, who joined Chelsea’s academy at the age of eight, climbed through the youth ranks and made his senior debut in 2016.
He featured prominently during the 2019-20 campaign, making 22 appearances, but saw his opportunities dwindle soon after.
In January 2021, he moved to AC Milan on loan and made an immediate impact, helping the club secure the Serie A title in his first season. That summer, Milan signed him permanently for £24m on a four-year deal.
Since then, the 27-year-old has been a key figure for Milan, playing over 150 games. However, this season has been challenging, with only six league starts. Reports suggest Tomori’s representatives have contacted several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, to explore a potential move.
Chelsea’s interest in re-signing Tomori depends on whether any of their current defenders, such as Axel Disasi, depart. Meanwhile, Juventus are also reportedly monitoring the England international.
Tomori, capped five times by England, was excluded from the Three Lions’ Euro 2024 squad. Reflecting on Tomori’s departure, former Chelsea boss Frank Lampard revealed he wanted to keep him but faced tough competition in the squad.
AC Milan currently sit eighth in Serie A after a disappointing season, while Chelsea have dropped to fourth in the Premier League following back-to-back festive defeats.
