Under Enzo Maresca’s leadership, the Blues have exceeded expectations this season, leaving fans optimistic after a strong first-half campaign.
Despite spending over £220 million on summer signings, the club is ready to dip back into the market, aiming to maintain momentum in the title race.
Nicolas Jackson, who has been a key player this season, starting 16 of Chelsea’s 17 league matches, could soon get support upfront. Reports suggest Chelsea wants to ease the burden on the Senegalese striker by adding fresh attacking firepower.
TalkSPORT claims Ipswich’s Liam Delap and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson top Chelsea’s January wishlist. Both players are promising young talents, but securing deals for either may prove challenging.
Delap, 21, has impressed during his debut season at Ipswich, following a £20 million move from Manchester City. Chelsea scouts have reportedly watched him closely, though City retained a buy-back option in their deal with Ipswich.
Meanwhile, Ferguson, 20, remains a key target, but Brighton are reportedly demanding £80–100 million for the Republic of Ireland international. Despite being linked with other Premier League clubs like Manchester United, Leicester, and West Ham, Ferguson’s contract at Brighton runs until 2029.
Recent reports suggest Ferguson may be loaned out in January due to limited game time, having scored just one goal in all competitions this season. Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler, however, remains committed to the player.
“I’m really happy to have Evan in the squad,” Hurzeler said. “The most important thing is being honest and finding the right solution for both the player and the club. Hopefully, he’ll be back on the pitch soon.”
As January approaches, Chelsea’s pursuit of these young forwards will be a key storyline to watch in their bid to secure a top-tier attack for the season’s second half.
