The 20-year-old left-back has drawn significant attention for his performances this season, becoming a top target for Spurs as they aim to strengthen their squad in January. However, Chelsea has emerged as a strong contender, with reports from the Daily Express suggesting that the Blues are now leading the race for his signature.
Manchester United is also monitoring Dorgu, with sources such as CaughtOffside reporting that the young star could command a fee of around £50 million. The Danish talent, born in Copenhagen, recently broke into Denmark’s senior national team, earning four caps this season.
Dorgu began his career at FC Nordsjælland before moving to Lecce’s academy in 2022. Since then, he has become a key player for the Italian side, making 52 appearances across all competitions. His performances have solidified Lecce’s position in Serie A, where they currently sit 14th.
With a contract running until 2029 and no release clause included, Lecce holds a strong negotiating position and can demand a hefty transfer fee. This has added urgency to Tottenham’s pursuit, with the North London club reportedly regretting their failure to secure Dorgu during the summer window.
Dorgu has also been on Liverpool’s radar, but no move materialized earlier this year. Chelsea’s interest is being driven by head coach Enzo Maresca, who is a keen admirer of the player’s versatility. Capable of playing both in defense and midfield, Dorgu could be a crucial addition to Chelsea’s squad.
Maresca has repeatedly highlighted defensive frailties as a reason Chelsea has struggled to challenge for titles this season, making the potential signing of Dorgu a top priority. As January approaches, the transfer race intensifies, with Chelsea appearing to have the upper hand for now.
