Chelsea have made a firm decision regarding Reece James’ future despite transfer interest from Barcelona and Benfica. Reports suggested that James’ agent had recently contacted both clubs regarding a possible move from Stamford Bridge.

While moving to a warmer climate has been considered as a potential solution to the England international’s ongoing muscle injuries, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Chelsea are not considering any offers for James.
Injury Setbacks for Chelsea Captain
James is currently sidelined with yet another injury setback, meaning he will not return to action until the New Year. The right-back has struggled with injuries in recent seasons, having played only 654 minutes of football since becoming Chelsea’s captain.
This season, James has made just four appearances, with Malo Gusto stepping up in his absence, further limiting James’ involvement under Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

Having joined Chelsea at the age of six and progressed through the academy, James has been at the club for over 15 years.
He has made 162 appearances for Chelsea and earned 16 caps for England. James played a key role in Chelsea’s Champions League win in 2021 and was named in the FA Cup Team of the Year during the 2020-21 season.
Despite frustration from fans over his injury woes, which led to suggestions that he could be sold, Chelsea are committed to keeping their captain for the foreseeable future.
