Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s Chelsea journey could come to an early end, as reports suggest the midfielder is set to leave in the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old joined Chelsea just six months ago from Leicester City for £30 million, reuniting with his former manager, Enzo Maresca. However, his stint in west London has been far from ideal.
Despite being highly rated at Leicester, Dewsbury-Hall has struggled to secure minutes in Chelsea’s packed midfield.
So far, he has featured in only five Premier League games, totaling 55 minutes of play. While he has impressed in the UEFA Conference League—scoring his first goal for the Blues in a 4-2 victory over Gent—his domestic performances haven’t been enough to cement a place in the starting XI.
According to The Daily Mail, Chelsea are open to letting Dewsbury-Hall leave on loan in January to secure more regular game time.
A potential return to Leicester is already being discussed, though any move would likely involve Chelsea covering part of his £80,000-a-week wages.
Maresca, who previously coached Dewsbury-Hall at Leicester, has expressed no hard feelings about the player’s potential exit.
Speaking last month, the Italian manager highlighted the midfielder’s initial struggle to adapt to his reduced role at Stamford Bridge.
“Kiernan was Leicester’s most important player. Moving to Chelsea meant becoming just one of many. That’s tough to accept at first,” Maresca said.
However, he praised Dewsbury-Hall’s recent efforts, adding, “He’s working hard and performing well in the Conference League. I’m happy with him.”
Dewsbury-Hall’s contract runs until 2029, giving Chelsea flexibility in handling his future. Whether he returns to Leicester or heads elsewhere, his immediate focus will likely be on finding regular football to reignite his career.
