Brighton have beaten Chelsea and West Ham to the signing of highly rated Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas, finalizing the deal on transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old joins from FC Nuremberg, where he has been on loan from PAOK, and will stay in Germany until the end of the season before moving to the Premier League.
Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, expressed his excitement over the signing, calling Tzimas an “exceptional young talent” and praising his natural goal-scoring ability.
The young striker has impressed in Bundesliga 2, netting 10 goals in 17 appearances this season.
Chelsea had attempted a late hijack of the transfer but ultimately failed as Brighton completed the move. Tzimas, already the youngest goalscorer in PAOK’s history, has been recognized as one of the top young players worldwide and has five caps for Greece U21s.
Brighton technical director David Weir confirmed that the club would closely monitor his progress at Nuremberg for the remainder of the season before integrating him into the squad for the 2025-26 campaign.
