Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, one of Chelsea’s summer signings, has been advised to leave Stamford Bridge after his potential is being “wasted” at the club. Despite Chelsea’s heavy spending last summer, including signings like Tosin Adarabioyo, Joao Felix, and Jadon Sancho, not all players have flourished.
While some, like Adarabioyo and Sancho, have made positive starts, Dewsbury-Hall has yet to start a Premier League match since his £30 million move from Leicester City.
The 26-year-old, who had hoped to thrive under Maresca – his former manager at Leicester – has found himself sidelined. This lack of game time has sparked rumors that he might leave just months after his arrival.
New West Ham manager Graham Potter is reportedly interested in acquiring Dewsbury-Hall, and former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin has urged the midfielder to seek a new club.
Nevin expressed disappointment at Dewsbury-Hall’s situation, emphasizing that his talent is being underutilized. “It’s a real shame to see what has happened to him,” Nevin stated.
“He’s a quality player but hasn’t had the chance to prove it. At his age, sitting on the sidelines isn’t viable, and he needs to play regularly.”
Dewsbury-Hall made over 100 appearances for Leicester, playing a key role in their Premier League return after winning the Championship. Despite his struggles, he expressed pride in joining Chelsea, calling it a “privilege” to be part of the club.
However, Chelsea’s head coach, Enzo Maresca, has downplayed the possibility of Dewsbury-Hall leaving. “He’s our player, and I see a future for him here,” Maresca said.
“Kiernan knows he must fight for his place, and that’s what he’s going to do.” Nonetheless, the midfielder’s future remains uncertain as he faces competition for a starting role.
