Chelsea is reportedly making a strong push to hijack West Ham’s bid to sign promising Greek forward Stefanos Tzimas, a move that could significantly impact the plans of Hammers manager Graham Potter.
Tzimas, currently on loan at 1. FC Nürnberg from PAOK, has been in excellent form, scoring nine goals in 15 appearances this season.
His performances have caught the attention of several top clubs, with West Ham initially believed to be in pole position to secure his signature. However, reports now suggest that Chelsea has jumped to the front of the queue, complicating matters for Potter’s side.
The 19-year-old has impressed scouts with his technical abilities, physicality, and intelligence on the pitch. Described as a fast, two-footed striker with a keen eye for goal, Tzimas has already made a name for himself, breaking records at PAOK and earning recognition as one of the top players born in 2006.
Tzimas’s potential move was initially thought to involve a £15 million purchase option for Nürnberg, followed by a quick resale to West Ham for a profit. But now, with Chelsea pushing to land him, West Ham must reassess their plans.
The young forward has also earned praise for his leadership on the field and his grounded nature off it, making him an appealing prospect for top European clubs. He has been capped five times by Greece U21s and is expected to break into the senior national team soon.
This development marks a blow for West Ham as they continue to seek a new striker to strengthen their squad amid injury problems. With Chelsea now in the race, it remains to be seen where Tzimas will ultimately end up
