Chelsea’s pursuit of Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has stirred up fresh transfer drama.
The Argentine youngster, who has tallied eight goals and five assists this season, has attracted interest from Stamford Bridge as they look to strengthen their forward lineup.
Reports suggest United are reluctant to part with Garnacho but may be forced into a sale due to financial strains.
Napoli, led by Antonio Conte, are also eyeing the 19-year-old as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, now at PSG. However, they’ve yet to meet United’s £54.8 million valuation.
Chelsea are said to be ramping up efforts to secure the young talent, with Garnacho reportedly favoring a move to London over Naples.
However, he isn’t actively seeking an exit from Old Trafford, where his starting opportunities under Ruben Amorim have been limited.
Despite the speculation, Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has played down rumors of an imminent deal. In a press conference before Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Manchester City, Maresca stated, “I’m happy with what we have.
On the right, we have Pedro Neto and Noni Madueke; on the left, Jadon Sancho. Tyrique George is a young profile who can help us.”
When asked about potential January signings, Maresca added, “We’re always paying attention, but we’ll see in the next 10 days if anything happens.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea may be parting ways with two other forwards. Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku are the subjects of ongoing transfer speculation.
Felix is attracting interest from AC Milan, who dropped their pursuit of Marcus Rashford, while Nkunku is linked with a move to Bayern Munich.
Addressing the rumors, Maresca clarified, “Joao and Christo are both fantastic players, but I usually opt for one attacking midfielder, which is often Cole Palmer. This isn’t about their quality; it’s a tactical decision for balance. I don’t expect either to leave.”
As the January window heats up, all eyes are on Chelsea and Manchester United to see how this potential saga unfolds.
