Chiamaka Okwuchukwu, the Falconets’ standout striker, has missed out on the 2025 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

The Nigerian forward, alongside Egypt’s Habiba Sabry, was edged out by Morocco’s Doha El Madani, who emerged as the winner of the highly competitive category.

In the Men’s Young Player of the Year award, Lamine Camara of Senegal made history by claiming the title for the second consecutive year, solidifying his place as one of Africa’s brightest footballing prospects.

While Okwuchukwu’s omission may come as a disappointment for Nigerian fans, the recognition of emerging talents like El Madani and Camara highlights the growing competition among Africa’s football stars on both the men’s and women’s sides.
