Former Chelsea star Chris Sutton has taken a swipe at Manchester United defender Matthijs de Ligt, suggesting the Dutchman appears “clunky” compared to his earlier days at Ajax.
Speaking on the “It’s All Kicking Off” podcast, Sutton remarked,
“[He’s] been in the gym too much. When he was at Ajax, not only was he strong, but he was agile and mobile. He just looks clunky, doesn’t he?”
De Ligt, who recently joined Manchester United from Bayern Munich during the summer transfer window, has yet to recapture the agility he was known for in his Eredivisie days.
