Cole Palmer has been linked with a potential exit from Chelsea as the club struggles to keep pace in the Premier League.
Initially seen as title contenders, Chelsea positioned themselves as Liverpool’s closest challengers earlier in the season. They even had an opportunity to reach the top of the table in December.
However, a steep decline in form has seen them win just three of their last 11 matches, dropping them to sixth in the standings.
Their recent FA Cup elimination has further intensified pressure, with Champions League qualification now hanging in the balance.

This downturn could have serious consequences, including uncertainty over key players’ futures. Former Chelsea striker Loic Remy believes Palmer, a standout performer since his £40m switch from Manchester City in 2023, may consider his options if Chelsea fail to fight for major honors.
Remy insists the 22-year-old has the technical quality to flourish in La Liga and suggests three potential destinations Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Atletico Madrid, all of whom are in contention for the Spanish title and the Champions League.
“Chelsea’s squad is very young, and Palmer is part of that. Right now, he looks like he’s struggling, but the whole team is,” Remy told Plejmo.com. “He has delivered incredible performances, scoring and assisting, but there’s always a spotlight on him. If he doesn’t play well, the team feels it. He’s still young, and the squad lacks experience.”
Remy added that Palmer’s playing style would suit Spanish football, saying, “He has immense talent on the ball and makes the game look easy.
He could shine at Real Madrid, Barcelona, or Atletico. But for now, his focus will be on trying to win silverware at Chelsea.”
The possibility of Palmer leaving is a concern for Chelsea fans, as losing their best players is a risk when results don’t meet expectations.
“Players always want to compete at the highest level,” Remy continued. “When I was at Marseille, I left for QPR because it felt like the right move at the time. Sometimes, things change, and if Chelsea can’t win trophies, Palmer may look elsewhere.”
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher echoed these concerns after observing Palmer’s frustration during Chelsea’s recent loss to Brighton.
“He looked visibly frustrated,” Carragher noted while commentating for Sky Sports. “Chelsea have a project, and Palmer is central to it.
But if they don’t improve and start winning, he’ll want out. He’s already one of the best in the league, and top players want to be fighting for the Champions League and Premier League.”
With Chelsea’s current struggles, the pressure is on to turn things around—not just to secure a top-four finish but to convince stars like Palmer to stay.
