The prestigious CAF Awards ceremony is set to take place tonight in Marrakech, Morocco, with Lookman competing against other nominees, including Simon Adingra, Achraf Hakimi, Rowen Williams, and Serhou Guirassy.
While Fae admitted loyalty to his own player, Adingra, he acknowledged Lookman’s undeniable achievements this year.
“I wish it’s Adingra because he’s my player, but Ademola Lookman deserves it,” Fae told Ojb Sports. “He played very well, scored goals at the AFCON, and shone for Atalanta, especially scoring three goals in the Europa League final.”
Lookman was a standout performer for Nigeria during the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, delivering crucial goals and displays that helped the Super Eagles reach the final.
Additionally, his hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final powered Atalanta to their historic victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
The CAF Men’s Player of the Year award honors the best African player based on performances at both club and international levels, and Fae’s endorsement highlights Lookman’s strong case for the title.
All eyes now turn to tonight’s ceremony, where the winner will be revealed.
