Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has expressed interest in securing Trevoh Chalobah’s permanent move from Chelsea.
The defender was told by Enzo Maresca last summer that his future at Stamford Bridge was uncertain, but no clubs pursued him due to his £25 million price tag.
However, Palace managed to sign Chalobah on loan on deadline day, with no buy clause included.
Chalobah’s time at Palace has been highly productive, as he has formed a solid defensive unit with Marc Guehi and Maxence Lacroix.
He has also proven to be a valuable asset in attack, netting three goals from set-pieces. This has led to speculation that the Eagles could push for a permanent deal, especially as Chelsea is keen to sell.
During a press conference before Palace’s upcoming match against Chelsea—where Chalobah is ineligible—Glasner commented on the possibility of a permanent transfer.
Although he didn’t want to stoke rumors, he praised Chalobah’s contributions, emphasizing that any deal depends on the agreement of all parties involved.
“A deal happens if all three parties—both clubs and the player—are happy with it,” Glasner remarked.
He added, “Trevoh has been excellent for us, and we’ve maintained a strong defensive line. He has scored three goals, but that’s a bonus for a defender. With Lacroix’s one and Guehi’s two, our back five has contributed eight goals—40% of our total. It’s crucial to have defenders who can score.”
Chalobah, who made 80 appearances for Chelsea over the past three seasons, still has more than four years remaining on his contract. Meanwhile, Palace is also anticipating offers for Guehi, with Newcastle’s £65 million bid last summer still fresh in the air.
Despite this, Glasner is adamant that Guehi will remain with the team this month. “No player has asked to leave,” he said. “Marc’s minutes speak for themselves, and I’m not worried about him leaving. We’re focused on signing two new players. I hop
