Brighton striker Danny Welbeck has downplayed rumors suggesting a return to Manchester United, following reports earlier this month that Erik ten Hag was keen to bring him back to Old Trafford.

The 33-year-old, who has enjoyed a strong season with Brighton, netting six goals in the Premier League so far, made 142 appearances for Manchester United before moving to Arsenal for £16 million in 2014.
When asked about the possibility of returning to his former club, Welbeck responded in an interview with The Times, saying, “It’s speculation, and there’s always that link for me because I’ve been at the club. I’m just focusing on what I can control myself, and everything else is pretty irrelevant.”
This season, Welbeck has been a standout player for Brighton, and many fans have speculated about his future, especially after reports that Manchester United might be in the market for a new striker.
Gary Neville, the former Manchester United star, recently commented on Welbeck’s career, expressing regret that United had sold him. He argued that Welbeck was in better form than any of United’s current front players. “Danny Welbeck should never have been let go at United,” Neville stated. “If you’ve got a squad of 24 or 23 and you want to keep five or six strikers, he’s got to be one of those. You’ve got to keep him.”
As speculation continues, Welbeck remains focused on his performances for Brighton, choosing to ignore the transfer rumors swirling around his future.
