Arsenal legend David Seaman believes Raheem Sterling could step in effectively if Bukayo Saka is unavailable for Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth. Saka, who has been in sensational form with two goals and seven assists in seven appearances this season, is a doubt for the game after suffering a hamstring injury during England’s Nations League defeat to Greece.

While Saka is reportedly “hopeful” of returning to full fitness in time for Saturday’s game, Mikel Arteta will likely have contingency plans in place should the winger miss out. Seaman, speaking on the *Seaman Says* podcast, suggested that Arsenal’s summer loan signing, Raheem Sterling, would be an excellent stand-in.

“Even though Bukayo could be out, it will probably give a chance to Raheem, so that’s a really good replacement,” Seaman said. “Speed worries defenders; it’s the worst thing ever. You don’t have to be that brainy to get on the end of some of the passes, but speed embarrasses people.”

Sterling, who joined Arsenal on a season-long loan from Chelsea, could compete with other attackers like Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli for a starting spot.

Seaman also expressed confidence that Arsenal, currently third in the Premier League, can challenge Manchester City for the title this season, especially with City missing their key midfielder Rodri. Reflecting on Arsenal’s title ambitions, Seaman noted: “We’re now genuine contenders. It’s taken us a while to get back to that, but that’s what we are now.”

However, the former England goalkeeper warned that Arsenal need to improve in games like the one against Bournemouth, highlighting that such matches “tripped us up last season.” Arsenal will be looking to extend their winning streak and maintain pressure on their rivals at the top of the table.
