Despite recently rejoining the England squad after a long absence, the 27-year-old was forced to sit out Sunday’s game due to illness.
Manager Ange Postecoglou confirmed, saying, “He came in today and wasn’t looking the best, so we sent him home for a full recovery.”
Changes in the Starting XI
With Solanke unavailable, Timo Werner steps into the starting lineup, joining Son Heung-min, Brennan Johnson, and James Maddison in a restructured attack.
Postecoglou also faces a defensive crisis, with key players Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven, and Cristian Romero sidelined due to injuries. Fraser Forster starts in goal, supported by Ben Davies and Radu Dragusin at center-back.
