Nunez joined Liverpool from Benfica in 2022 after an impressive season in Portugal, netting 26 goals in 28 league games.
The transfer fee for Nunez reached an initial £64 million, potentially rising to £85 million with add-ons, marking him as one of Liverpool’s high-profile acquisitions.
Though Nunez has shown promise, contributing 35 goals in all competitions for Liverpool, he has also faced challenges, including inconsistent form and periods out of the starting lineup.
Yorke, however, sees untapped potential in the Uruguayan striker, describing him as a “monster of a player” capable of transforming Manchester United’s attack.
With United scoring only eight goals in their first nine Premier League games this season, doubts persist about the effectiveness of current forwards Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.
Yorke is convinced that Nunez’s physicality and aggressive playstyle could bring the intensity needed to energize United’s forward line, urging the club to consider Nunez as a prime target.
Yorke’s recommendations come amid discussions of other potential striker options, with Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins also highlighted for his quality.
Still, Yorke maintains that Nunez’s powerful presence would be more impactful for United.
Reflecting on United’s current situation, he shared his confidence that Nunez, if given consistent playing time, could make a resounding impact in the Premier League.
United’s upcoming managerial changes might also influence transfer decisions. With Ruben Amorim in a strong position to succeed Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, Yorke’s comments add to the ongoing dialogue about future team strategy.
United’s recent 5-2 victory over Leicester City, under the temporary stewardship of Ruud van Nistelrooy, has already highlighted the players’ resolve following Ten Hag’s departure.
