Newly appointed Super Eagles head coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, will hold his first training session in Kigali as Nigeria begins preparations for their must-win 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on March 21. The players are expected to arrive at the camp by March 18, while Chelle and his backroom staff will touch down a day earlier.

A top official of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed the plan, stating, “We expect the players to fly directly to Kigali from their respective clubs, latest by Tuesday, 18 March. The technical crew and backroom staff will arrive a day earlier to finalize arrangements.”

The NFF is backing Chelle to turn the Super Eagles’ qualification campaign around after a disappointing start. The team currently sits fifth in Group C with three points from four matches. With back-to-back fixtures against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, securing maximum points is critical to keeping Nigeria’s World Cup hopes alive.

Chelle has named a 23-man squad featuring a strong attacking lineup, including Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Bayer Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface, and Belgian league top scorer Toluwalase Emmanuel Arokodare. Sadiq Umar and Paul Onuachu are also in the mix as Nigeria looks to sharpen its attacking threat.
