The 24-year-old has been sidelined since his substitute appearance in Fulham’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool at Anfield on December 14. Smith Rowe missed both the stalemate with Southampton and Fulham’s impressive 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Boxing Day.
Fulham manager Marco Silva had previously suggested that the midfielder could be fit for the upcoming clash at Craven Cottage. However, speaking ahead of the match, Silva revealed that a final decision on Smith Rowe’s fitness will be made after the team’s training session on Saturday.
“We don’t know yet,” Silva said when asked about Smith Rowe’s availability. “It’s a decision we are going to take on Saturday as we have another session. We have to keep assessing, not just the players who were out in the last game, but also the ones that played.”
Both Fulham and Bournemouth head into the encounter in strong form, with neither side tasting defeat in their last six games. Silva acknowledged the challenge posed by Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth side, praising their physicality and attacking prowess.
“What a battle it is going to be,” Silva remarked. “Andoni Iraola is doing a really good job there. Our Bournemouth games are always really tight and competitive, and this is going to be another one.
“They’re a really physical side, direct too, and their frontline is top level. They have a quality team, they are intense. It’s going to be a great challenge for us, but we are going to make it a great challenge for them too.”
Fulham will be hoping to maintain their unbeaten streak as they look to strengthen their position in the Premier League table, while fans eagerly await news on Smith Rowe’s potential return to the squad.
