Jadon Sancho hasn’t forgotten his turbulent time at Manchester United—and he made that clear with a pointed message to Marcus Rashford following his Aston Villa debut.
Rashford, who joined Villa on loan after being sidelined by United boss Ruben Amorim, made his first appearance in over two months during Sunday’s 2-1 FA Cup win over Tottenham.
After the match, he posted on social media, prompting a response from Sancho. The Chelsea loanee simply commented “Freedom” with prayer and raised hands emojis—an apparent jab at their shared struggles at Old Trafford.

Sancho, now at Chelsea on loan, experienced similar treatment at United after clashing with Erik ten Hag over training performances. His refusal to apologize led to an exile before being sent back to Borussia Dortmund on loan last season. Rashford, meanwhile, fell out of favor with Amorim and was frozen out of the squad before his Villa move.
Sancho’s comments aren’t likely to sit well with United fans, who were already frustrated with his performances following his £72m transfer in 2021. The winger managed just 12 goals in 87 appearances before being cast out.

With both players now finding opportunities away from Old Trafford, their public frustrations suggest deeper issues at United under Amorim. Will either of them return to reclaim their place, or are their United careers effectively over?
