Sevilla manager Garcia Pimienta has praised Chidera Ejuke for his outstanding performance after the Nigerian forward scored the decisive goal in Sevilla’s 1-0 win against Real Sociedad on Sunday. The victory not only helped Sevilla climb to 10th place in LaLiga but also extended their impressive unbeaten run in away matches to five games.
Ejuke, who has been working his way back into the squad following an injury, made a strong statement with his well-taken goal. Just two minutes into the second half, he latched onto a pass from Saul before curling a beautiful shot past the goalkeeper, sealing all three points for his side.
“When he got injured, he was in great form. He was practically out for three months, and we all know how difficult it is to regain rhythm after such a long spell on the sidelines,” Pimienta told Sevilla’s official website. “In addition, Vargas has been performing at a very high level, so Ejuke had to wait for his moment.
“He didn’t just score; he also helped the team defensively. His willingness to track back and fight for the ball made a big difference. We’re very happy for him, and this performance will give him a lot of confidence moving forward,” the manager added.
Ejuke’s return to form is a huge boost for Sevilla, who are looking to finish the season strongly after a challenging start. The 27-year-old’s ability to make an impact off the bench or as a starter could prove invaluable as Sevilla aim to climb higher in the standings.
So far this season, Ejuke has made 17 league appearances, scoring twice. While his numbers may not be prolific, his dynamic style of play and ability to influence games suggest he has a lot more to offer.
