The 24-year-old, regarded as one of the Premier League’s top defenders, played a crucial role in Gareth Southgate’s England squad, helping the Three Lions reach the Euro 2024 final before falling to Spain.

Last summer, Newcastle made multiple attempts to sign Guehi, submitting four bids, the highest worth £65m, but Palace refused to part ways with their star defender.

The club had already sold Joachim Andersen to Fulham for £30m and couldn’t afford to lose another key player.

Despite staying at Selhurst Park, interest in Guehi remains strong. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Manchester United were linked with him last summer, but according to The Sun, Guehi now prefers a move to Liverpool. He reportedly wants to join a Champions League club, and Liverpool has become his top choice.

Liverpool’s defensive lineup, featuring Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, and Joe Gomez, has been pivotal in securing their current lead in the Premier League.

However, with van Dijk’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, Liverpool is eyeing Guehi as a long-term replacement.

The club could even include teenage star Ben Doak, currently on loan at Middlesbrough, in a potential deal to secure Guehi’s signature.

Guehi, a product of Chelsea’s academy, joined Crystal Palace in 2021 after spending over a decade with the Blues. His impressive form has made him a target for top clubs, and Palace may struggle to keep him this time.

Palace manager Oliver Glasner previously praised Guehi’s commitment, stating, “Marc was never pushing to leave. His professionalism and dedication were outstanding, even amid transfer speculation.”

However, Palace’s struggles this season might shift Guehi’s stance. Currently 16th in the league and just three points above the relegation zone, the club’s precarious position could hasten his departure.

Liverpool’s interest signals that a significant transfer battle could unfold in the coming months as top clubs vie for one of England’s brightest defensive talents.
