Enugu Rangers Star Ifeanyi Onyebuchi Earns Eagles Call-Up

Enugu Rangers have extended their congratulations to defender Ifeanyi Onyebuchi following his inclusion in the Super Eagles’ provisional squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. The 23-year-old, who has been a standout performer in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

Onyebuchi is one of 10 defenders listed for the fixtures set for March 21 and 25. Reacting to the news, Enugu Rangers took to social media to celebrate their player’s achievement. “Eagle has landed! From thrilling the NPFL with Rangers International to earning a Super Eagles call-up, BUCHI is set to shine on the big stage.

The defender faces stiff competition for a place in the final squad, with experienced names like William Troost-Ekong, Ola Aina, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Zaidu Sanusi also vying for spots.

Onyebuchi is one of several NPFL players included in Chelle’s squad, joining the likes of Niger Tornadoes’ Papa Daniel, Kano Pillars captain Ahmed Musa, and Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole.

With Nigeria looking to improve their standing in Group C, Onyebuchi’s inclusion highlights the growing influence of NPFL players in the national team setup. Whether he makes the final cut remains to be seen, but his call-up is a testament to his hard work and rising profile in Nigerian football.
