United recently terminated Ferguson’s £2.6 million-a-year ambassadorial role as part of cost-cutting measures introduced by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The decision has sparked strong reactions, including anger from former players like Eric Cantona. Ferguson, who retired in 2013 after leading United to 38 trophies in 26 years, has remained a prominent figure at the club, attending matches and offering advice.

Ten Hag acknowledged Ferguson’s significant role in building United, emphasizing that his departure will have an impact. However, he also reassured fans that Ferguson will continue to be available to offer advice when needed. According to Ten Hag, Ferguson’s influence has been invaluable during his two-and-a-half-year tenure, with occasional formal and informal meetings.

Ten Hag also reflected on United’s current struggles, noting that while they haven’t reached the high standards set by Ferguson, they’ve still won trophies and are gradually improving.
