The former Manchester United star is set to become a free agent at the end of his current Juventus contract, and Petit believes that joining Arsenal could offer Pogba the fresh start he needs to prove himself in the Premier League once again.
Following a four-year ban for doping offenses, which was recently reduced to 18 months, Pogba can resume training in January 2025 and is eligible to play in March.
Petit, who enjoyed a successful spell at Arsenal himself, sees a strong fit for Pogba in Mikel Arteta’s midfield, citing his height, strength, and creativity as assets that would blend well with the young and energetic Arsenal squad.
He believes Pogba, now 31, still has much to offer and needs the right environment and support, which Arteta and Arsenal fans could provide.
Additionally, former Arsenal player Bacary Sagna shares Petit’s view, suggesting that the Premier League suits Pogba’s style and that the Gunners’ youthful squad would allow him to thrive.
Sagna highlighted Pogba’s exceptional performances with France during the 2018 World Cup, attributing his success to the team’s support and camaraderie—qualities he could find at Arsenal.
Pogba, who was once the world’s most expensive player, returned to Manchester United in 2016 for £89 million.
While his performances were inconsistent, he is eager to make a comeback, especially after a period marked by both personal and professional setbacks.
Pogba himself recently expressed relief at the reduction of his ban, saying, “Finally, the nightmare is over. I can look forward to the day when I can follow my dreams again.”
