Nigerian football is celebrating another milestone as Falconets duo Flourish Sabastine and Chiamaka Okwuchukwu have been shortlisted for the 2024 CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year award.

Both players played pivotal roles in the Falconets’ impressive campaign at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, showcasing their exceptional talents on the global stage.
Sabastine and Okwuchukwu will compete against top young talents from across Africa, including:
- Cathy Biya (Cameroon / Eclair)
- Naomi Eto (Cameroon / Amazone FAP)
- Habiba Sabry (Egypt / FC Masar)
- Stella Nyamekye (Ghana / Dreamz Ladies)
- Valerie Nekesa (Kenya / Madira Girls)
- Doha El Madani (Morocco / AS FAR)
- Lina Mokhtar Jamai (Morocco / Paris Saint-Germain)
- Nthabiseng Majiya (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns)
The winners will be determined by a diverse voting panel comprising members of the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, and the Head Coaches and Captains of CAF Member Associations.
The CAF Awards 2024 will recognize outstanding performances between January 2024 and October 2024.
The prestigious award ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 16, 2024, in Marrakech, Morocco.
Sabastine and Okwuchukwu’s nominations highlight the Falconets’ incredible depth of talent and reinforce Nigeria’s reputation as a powerhouse in African women’s football.
