Fikayo Tomori has pledged his future to Chelsea Football Club by signing a new five-year contract, extending his stay at Stamford Bridge until 2024.

The young defender, who turns 22 next week, shone last season with 55 appearances for Derby County under Frank Lampard.

His impressive performances earned him a place in Chelsea’s senior squad this season after Lampard took over as head coach. So far, Tomori has made 16 appearances, debuted in the Champions League, and earned his first senior England cap.

In an exclusive interview available on the 5th Stand app, Tomori expressed his delight: “This is a proud moment for my family and me.

Having been at Chelsea since I was seven, the club feels like home. They’ve helped shape me into the person and player I am today. Signing this deal is a dream come true, and I’m excited for what lies ahead.”

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia commended Tomori’s journey, highlighting his growth through the academy and into the first team.

“Fikayo has been with us since he was seven and has excelled at every level. His loan at Derby and his performances this season have demonstrated his potential. We’re thrilled he’s committed to the club for the future.”

Tomori’s Chelsea story began at the Under-8 level, where he teamed up with fellow academy graduate Tammy Abraham. Over the years, he played a pivotal role in securing major youth trophies, including the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League titles in consecutive seasons.

His senior debut came in 2016 as a substitute against Leicester City, and he was honored as Chelsea’s Academy Player of the Year the same season.

Valuable loan spells with Brighton, Hull City, and Derby County shaped Tomori into the player he is today. At Derby, he became a fan favorite, helping the team reach the Championship play-off final and earning their Player of the Year award.

Internationally, Tomori was part of England’s victorious Under-20 World Cup squad in 2017 and went on to represent the Under-21s before making his senior debut for Gareth Southgate’s team in 2019.

This season, Tomori has made significant contributions for Chelsea, including a stunning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers and key performances in European matches against Lille and Ajax. With his new contract, Tomori looks set to be a crucial part of Chelsea’s future success.
